We’ll show you how to create a comprehensive revenue by audience report in Google Analytics 4, enabling you to make data-driven decisions about audience targeting and marketing investments.

Basic Report Structure

  • Report Type: Free Form Exploration
  • Primary Dimension: Audience Name
  • Key Metrics: Revenue metrics
  • Visualization: Table format with optional bar chart
  • Time Comparison: Enable period comparison for trend analysis

Steps to Create the Report

  1. Open GA4 and navigate to the Explore section
  2. Click the Blank template to start a new exploration
  3. Under the Dimensions, click the + button and search for Audience name, check the checkbox beside it, and click Confirm
  4. Under the Metrics, click the + button and search for Total revenue, Average purchase revenue, and Transactions, check the checkboxes, and click Confirm
  5. Drag Audience name to the Rows section
  6. Drag all three metrics (Total revenue, Average purchase revenue, and Transactions) to the Values section
  7. Click the Settings icon and set your desired date range
  8. Optional: Add a comparison date range by clicking the + Compare button
  9. Optional: Add a bar chart visualization by clicking the + Tab button and selecting Bar chart

  • Audience name: Shows the defined audience segments in your GA4 property
